Time for Mastery, Continued from 1999

By James Jarvis, M.A.

The universal year 2006, resonates with the frequency of the number 8 (2+0+0+6 = 8). The main theme of this year is mastery. We have the opportunity in an 8 universal year to reach a new level of mastery in the areas of life experience that we initiated in 1999.

With the sub-influences of the numbers 2 and 6, the mastery that is being offered is a “kinder” and gentler.” Gone is the way of trying to control and force our way into mastery like the way we harden and temper steel through hammering it.

Mercury journeys through Capricorn from Jan. 3-22, helping you manage and structure the contents of your mind so you can plan in detail how to accomplish your goals. It’s an excellent time to physically ground all the details in your mind by making master lists.

Mars in Taurus is in a challenging relationship with Jupiter in Scorpio Jan. 10-19. Mars/Jupiter aspects challenge us to focus our will and intention (Mars) on an ideal or desire that we are passionate about (Jupiter in Scorpio).

The Sun moving into Aquarius on Jan. 20 (12:16 a.m.) helps heal any wounds around alienation or not fitting in. It’s an opportune time to serve the collective by sharing your insights and visions of how the world can be transformed through positive and progressive change.

With Mercury in Aquarius Jan. 22, the emphasis is on liberating (Aquarius) the mind (Mercury). The Aquarius influence helps us to break free from any ways in which our thinking has become crystallized or stagnant. Be willing to act on any “illuminations” or intuitive insights that you might receive during this late January period.

The new moon at 9 degrees Aquarius on Jan. 29 (9:15 a.m.) brings in a new cycle of growth and awareness. Relationships, in particular, will be affected by this event as the moon represents what we need for emotional security. The new moon in Aquarius calls us to learn emotional detachment to maintain our own sense of personal autonomy while being emotionally present to the needs and desires of others.

For Sun, Moon and Rising Signs

Aquarius Jan. 21-Feb. 18:
The new moon in Aquarius on 1/29 brings new possibilities in the financial arena. You are very tuned into what the collective needs. Your good ideas will probably resonate with the public if you trust them.

Pisces Feb. 19-March 20: You might be surprised that you are much more outspoken this month, particularly at work. Use your mental clarity and near surgical insight to cut to the core of issues. Your insights will be appreciated!

Aries March 21-April 20: Try to temper your career enthusiasm with a commitment to not driving yourself too hard. You can accomplish a lot this month if you remain grounded. Focus on goals that are both realistic and expansive.

Taurus April 21-May 21: You might benefit through being involved in some sort of community service this month. Is there a cause or issue that speaks to your heart? If so, this could be an opportunity to know you’re making a difference.

Gemini May 22-June 20: Relationships will benefit from your ability to directly speak the truth. You see the broader picture now and are able to be incisive in your communications. Remember: speak the truth and it will set you free!

Cancer June 21-July 20: The full moon in Cancer on 1/14 amplifies your natural sensitivity. It’s time to tune into what you need from others for a change. Try to balance receiving from others with your natural tendency to give.

Leo July 21-Aug. 22: Your drive and energy are high now and need a physical outlet. Getting exercise is a must to keep you grounded and to let off excess steam. Eating earthy foods like root vegetables and grains will help too.

Virgo Aug. 23-Sept. 22: Feeling like one foot is on the brake and the other’s on the gas? If so, it’s time to look at whatever unconscious beliefs are holding you back. Listen to your speaking for repetitive limiting thoughts.

Libra Sept. 23-Oct. 22: You have the opportunity to shift from working harder to working smarter. Try to let go of figuring out all the details and just “go with the flow” a little more. As you let go of control, grace takes over.

Scorpio Oct. 22-Nov. 21: Even though your mind is racing right now, have patience with us slower mortals. Impatience is based on the fear that there’s not enough time. There is enough time if you’re in the present, so “be here now!”

Sagittarius Nov. 22-Dec. 20: Sagittarius folks are usually pretty verbal but you may be feeling a little quieter this month. The best thing to do is to carve out some alone time and re-connect with your guidance. You’ll discover a new clarity.

Capricorn Dec. 21-Jan. 20: Boundary issues with others may come into focus this month. Probably you are feeling like you are doing more than your fair share. Look to see where you’re saying yes when what you really want to say is no.
